In 2024, the global market size for pet funeral services reached approximately $1.7 billion, projected to increase to $4.1 billion by 2034, expanding steadily at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.1% during the forecast period.

On TikTok, the #petfuneral hashtag has amassed over 1,000 videos, with the most-viewed clip surpassing one million views.

Among these, a video by creator @chongpodgaa documenting the entire funeral process for her pet cat Kitty garnered 507,800 views and 118,300 likes.

The video meticulously documented a series of farewell rituals for the beloved cat, including body cleansing, fur grooming, and paw print preservation, culminating in the creation of a peaceful and warm “resting space.” The heartfelt content resonated deeply with numerous pet owners, prompting many users to share stories of their own departed pets in the comments section.

Beyond TikTok, major e-commerce platforms also sell pet funeral-related products. Searching “Pet funeral supplies” on Amazon and Etsy reveals distinct offerings across platforms.

Amazon primarily features functional items for deceased pets, such as pet urns, memorial stones, and photo frames, with sales ranging from 700 to over 1,000 units.

Among these, a glow-in-the-dark memorial stone has proven most popular, selling over 1,000 units in the past 30 days with sales reaching $34,000.

Etsy is better suited for high-value personalized products, most of which are handmade.

Common items on the platform include memorial headstones, nameplates, and wooden frames, priced between CAD 20 and CAD 50. Although the number of sellers is not large, Etsy receives over 14 million daily visits, enjoys generally positive user reviews, and has a user base where over 80% are women. This creates a highly loyal customer group with a strong emotional connection to their purchases.

Among these, the standout seller is a “Personalized Pet Memorial Stone.” Designed specifically to honor various types of pets, this product supports customization based on the pet’s characteristics. It allows engraving of text of any length and can even be embedded with a photo of the pet.
